Apartment
description :
A delightful apartment
that mixes a modular style with a family home decoration
welcomes you from a small vestibule furnished with
wicker chairs and shelves, and an ancient and rather
picturesque map of Le Marais and all streets and
monuments. The well lighted character of the entire
place, along with a distinctive and excellent use
of the space not to mention a family ambience, will
make it a rather enjoyable place to stay and feel
at home. Kitchen, living room, and dining room seem
to merge in an unbreakable equilibrium of functionality
and peaceful comfort. Most windows will have you
look at an open view of Place de Saint Paul, and
they are equipped with double glass for best sound
isolation and noise protection.
The building is located in a street whose name comes
from the Hotel, property of Charles Anjou, King
of Naples and Sicily. The previous name it held
was Street of Human Rights. At that time there was
a prison for debtors and other minor criminals next
to it on Rue des Ballets. However, in 1792 this
prison called La Grande Force was also the place
where suspects to have been linked to the royal
family were sent after the Revolution. The apartment
and its proximity to places of cultural interest
are very handy to the historically curious tourist.
Le musée Carnavalet few blocks north on Rue
Payenée and the Musée Historique de
la Ville de Paris, just one block south of the apartment
are two mandatory places to learn or remember Paris'
history in works of art and manuscripts. Le Musée
de Congnaq Jay, a bit north of MuséeCarnavalet
will delight you with the interesting history of
the first big department stores in Paris. La Place
des Vosgues east of the apartment on Rue Saint Antoine,
a sophisticated and fancy open space to relax and
take wonderful pictures will contrast with the northwest
side of the area filled with art galleries and antique
stores and narrower streets, and where the well
known Musée Picasso located up north will
be the dream come true for art lovers and collectors.
